Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC)

USC, the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela develops consolidated research in all areas of knowledge. The department of Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology of Faculty of Veterinary will take part in the project based on their previous expertise in development of functional assays, analytical detection methods and pharmacokinetic studies for biotoxins, together with the study of their toxicity. Participants from this group will focus all of their expertise in mycotoxins within Agritox.

The laboratory is equipped with instrumentation for chemical analysis including High-Resolution Liquid Chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) and with High-resolution Time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS-TOF). In addition, the Faculty of Veterinary has complete laboratories specialised in toxicology, biochemistry, agronomy, all of which will be available to be used by the personnel appointed for Agritox.

Project roles

USC will be the leader and coordinator of the project , and they will highly contribute to the configuration of the mycotoxicity detection system, and will be the link to the Galician regional actors for transference of results to industry and public administrations, and specifically USC leads WP5, Joint Design of an Easy-to-Use Toxicity Alert System.
